John C. Serkland
With over 24 years of experience practicing law, John C. Serkland focuses his practice on representing injured workers in workers’ compensation claims. Before entering the legal field, John spent years in physically demanding roles—working as a mover, painter, and carpenter while putting himself through college. These early jobs gave him firsthand insight into the toll physical labor takes on the body and the serious consequences a workplace injury can have on a person’s livelihood.
Prior to becoming an attorney, John also served as a sales manager. His background in business and sales brings a strategic edge to his advocacy, helping him effectively negotiate and litigate on behalf of his clients.
John earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 2001. He also holds an MBA from Dominican University (1999) and a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College (1994).
Outside the courtroom, John is an active musician and regularly performs throughout the city. He’s also a longtime participant in Chicago’s sixteen-inch men’s softball leagues.
