Founding Partner
In Memory Of

Mark A. DePaolo devoted more than three decades to protecting the rights of injured workers across Illinois. As the founding partner of DePaolo Zadeikis & Pino, he helped shape the firm’s mission: delivering justice and compensation for those hurt on the job. With an unmatched command of Illinois workers’ compensation law, Mark handled thousands of cases throughout his career, briefing and arguing numerous complex matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Illinois Appellate Court.

Mark’s contributions to the legal community extended far beyond his own clients. He served as President of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, and remained an active member throughout his life. His excellence was recognized repeatedly by Super Lawyers, who named him an Illinois Super Lawyer seven times, and by Best Lawyers in America, who honored him in 2010 as one of the leading attorneys in his field.

Mark earned his undergraduate degree from DePaul University before completing his Juris Doctor at Northern Illinois University College of Law. He was admitted to the Illinois State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1979.

Mark believed deeply in the dignity of labor and the importance of protecting working-class families—a belief reflected in both his words and his work. As he once said during his 1994 installation speech as President of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association:

“If an industrialized society does not have a working class that equals a middle class, then it has nothing.”

Mark’s legacy lives on in the countless clients he helped, the attorneys he mentored, and the values he embedded in this firm. His compassion, tenacity, and dedication to justice remain at the heart of everything we do.

We honor his memory and continue to carry his mission forward.
